awake

she whispered her own name to awake
ragged edges of worn gown swept across the floor
the warmth of the day already begun
her hair tousled needing the brush
rubbing the bits of left sleep
her lips parted to suck in the morning's breath
one moment she felt stalled
the next inhaled thought
exhaled the beginning of a time
unrequested coming from the side ways
now she knew
one more step forward into that day
when she fell in love with you

awake oh awake
